Jays vs Yankees

A group of over 30 students at Eurocentres Toronto visited the Rogers Centre to see the Blue Jays take on the New York Yankees on April 20, 2011! The Jays had won their first game of the two-game series and the students were excited and hoped for a repeat victory. Although we lost the game that night, our Eurocentres cheering squad experienced the crowd and the fun atmosphere in the dome! This was the first game that the school organized to kick off baseball season here in Toronto. It surely won’t be the last! As the weather gets warmer in the city, baseball fans from all over the world that study here in Eurocentres Toronto will flock to the stadium to root for the Blue Jays!

Drink Steam Whistle Pilsner! Do one thing really, really well.

A group of our students spent a windy Friday afternoon on an activity to the Steam Whistle Brewery Tour across from the Rogers Centre! They were welcomed to a tour and taste of the brewery and discovered why Steam Whistle is known as one of Toronto’s “green buildings”. Not only did they warm up after sampling Canada’s Premium Pilsner, but they also saw first hand the workings of a Canadian business and how one of its famous products remains competitive in today’s market.  It was an enjoyable afternoon especially for our business students and quite the local experience!

Spring is arriving in Vancouver!

Spring is still a few weeks away, but Vancouver is already warming up!
Our lucky students never have to look far for something fun and different to do in the city, but this season is truly a special one in our town!

This week saw our school turn into a sea of “green” as students and teachers from many different cultural backgrounds adopted a little Irish spirit for St. Patrick’s Day! The spirit carried over well into the evening, with a fun and raucous pub night at one of Vancouver’s friendliest Irish pubs.

For those of us who can’t get enough of all things Irish (and Scottish!) CeltFest, a 4 -day spectacle of Celtic music, dance, film and storytelling, arrived downtown on the 16th and continues until Sunday. The green beer is going to flow!

Finally, it’s getting pretty close to cherry blossom time, something that everyone in Vancouver looks forward to.  The annual Cherry Blossom Festival, celebrating the beauty of spring and Vancouver’s 37,000 gorgeous cherry trees, will be held from March 26-April 22 this year, and will include walking tours, concerts featuring musical traditions from around the world, a Sakura Days Japan fair and a haiku writing competition!

We hope our students will take advantage of the warmer weather and all the unique spring activities Vancouver has to offer!
