Environmental Policy – Going Green for the Environment
Eurocentres Canada is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and the impact that our schools and students have on the environment. We are very proud of the measures taken to be environmental friendly and responsible.
All our teachers and staff are both aware and concerned about our environment. We strive to reduce our waste and energy consumption wherever and whenever possible. We promote the use of reusable items such as drinking containers i.e. cups/bottles, plates and utensils and encourage our students to do the same. We also have a policy of reusing paper and recycling that which does not have a secondary use (cans, bottles, paper, etc.) Electronic devices are powered down when not in use to conserve energy. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we use environmental topics as teaching points in our classes, thereby instilling an understanding of these issues and a respect for nature in our students.
Eurocentres Vancouver, in working with the Building Owners, has made many environmentally friendly changes to its facilities and the building has been awarded a Go Green certificate. Some of the changes that have been made include using motion sensors in all classrooms to turn off the lights when the room is not in use and switching to energy efficient lighting, heating, and cooling.
Eurocentres Toronto has taken a very active role in recycling. The school has provided a recycling bin in each classroom and teachers constantly educate students about their use.
