Toronto International Film Festival

Toronto is a city of lights, cameras, and action. Every autumn, thousands of movie lovers from around the world descend on Toronto to take part in the Toronto International Film Festival. TIFF, as it's affectionately known, is one of the biggest festivals of it's kind. We at Eurocentres are very fortunate to be located only a few steps from the main venues and have been enjoying all of the attendant excitement. Just a block east of us is the Scotiabank Theatre, Toronto's largest movie venue with over a dozen screens. Across from it is the National Film Board of Canada, where, for only $2, individuals can spend the day choosing and watching as many NFB films as they like. And just 2 blocks south of us is the newly opened Bell Lightbox, a building devoted to the art and history of filmmaking. We're very much looking forward to the Tim Burton exhibit which will be debuting in November.

Of course, the film festival isn't the only connection Toronto has to the world of moving pictures. Every year, dozens of movies are filmed in our fair city. Just this past week, the building to our south has been serving as a film set. Yesterday, an entire street was closed off for filming. It's not uncommon to pass a movie star on the way to school! Yes, there's always something, or someone, to see in Toronto.
